September 15–28
Pick up a trail sheet from the garden room at Belton House in Lincolnshire and set off on a nature detective hunt around the gardens of this country house estate. After discovering the autumnal delights of the garden, children can monkey around in Lincolnshire’s largest adventure playground whilst you enjoy some local seasonal fare in the restaurant.

Toys For The Boys
September 15–October 30
Boys, girls and young-at-heart parents can indulge their playful side at this special exhibition at Sudbury Hall Museum Of Childhood. Explore the world of rough and tumble boy's toys including train sets, transformers, skateboards and soldiers as well as exploring the grand 17th century craftsmanship of Sudbury Hall. 

Build A Scarecrow Day
September 17
Head down to the Sandy Lane Allotments in Bushbury for this creative seasonal workshop as part of the Wolverhampton In Bloom initiative, Children can build their very own straw-stuffed friend to keep pesky birds away from the autumn harvest whilst everyone enjoys locally sourced homemade soup and refreshments.

The Alternative Village Fete
October 15,16
Join in a very different type of village gathering this autumn at Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire as part of the National Trust's Dark Materials programme of events. Families can get involved in some traditional village fete activitie with a twist including heavy metal face painting, best-in-show motorbikes, rockabilly barn dancing as well as live music and local crafts. 

Family Fun day

Nature detectives will love visiting Birmingham Botanical Gardens during the autumn season to take in the rusty hues of fallen leaves and watch squirrels gathering their bounty before the winter. Head along for this special fun day and the natural seasonal beauty will be supplemented by a range of activities for all of the family.

Robin Hood Pageant
October 29–30
Pull on your green tights and brush up on your archery skills for this year’s Robin Hood Pageant at Nottingham Castle. The ancestral home of The Sheriff Of Nottingham will be transformed into a medieval village, playing host to wandering minstrels, traditional craft workshops, falconry, a live jousting tournament and many more themed activities.

Witley Court And Gardens
Now open
Witley Court, once a grand country house, was ravaged by fire in 1937 leaving behind only dramatic ruins and romantic landscaped gardens, perfect for an afternoon stroll to welcome in the new season. Wonder the woodland glades, taking in the vibrant autumnal palate of the newly restored East Parterre garden and pay a visit to the Perseus and Andromeda fountain with its majestic cascades, running until the end of October.
