Villa Kennedy, Germany

With a history dating back to 1393, Frankfurt's Christmas market is one of the most elaborately decorated in Germany. Centred around a huge Christmas tree, it is famous for toys, handicrafts and hobby-horses. It feels like Christmas every day at the city's Villa Kennedy, as children are presented with a gift and sweet treats on arrival. Families are asked to provide names and ages of children when booking so rooms can be kitted out with pint-sized bathrobes and slippers, miniature toiletries, and a PlayStation. A morning "newspaper" service is also available, with a choice of Mickey Mouse abd Geolino comic books. And if all that shopping hasn't caused weary heads to hit the pillow, the hotel is on hand with complimentary milk and cookies - guaranteed to induce blissful slumbers.

Prices start from €257 a night, based on two adults sharing a classic room, with complimentary children's room. Visit
