Collector’s Classic: The Mini Sidney
The Mini Sidney is a durable and excellently designed chair available at Vincent Sheppard
Posted: 1 August 2009
Back in 1917, the American entrepreneur Marshall Burns Lloyd patented a method of twisting kraft paper around a steel wire and weaving it on a loom. The result was Lloyd Loom furniture, which looked like rattan, but was stronger and longer lasting. Two classic pieces were developed for children – the Pookie and, our favourite, the Mini Sidney. There are 28 colours available with plenty of natural shades as well as fun colours like fuchsia, aubergine and olive. £189 from Vincent Sheppard.
