Hot from the oven

Makes approximately 20-30 biscuits.

Storage: Store for up to 3 days in airtight container, or can be frozen in batches – defrost in minutes – for an instant healthy treat.

Prep time: 20 minutes, plus decoration time

Cook time: 10 - 15 minutes

Suitable for: Babies from 9mths+ (12mths+ with decorations)

Allergens: Gluten, dairy (can be made with coconut oil)

·       200g flour

·       ½ tsp baking powder

·       75g cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes or virgin coconut oil

·       60mls maple syrup

1.     Preheat oven to 160c fan force / 180c no fan.

2.     Grease and line two baking trays.

3.     Stir the baking powder in to the flour, then rub the butter and maple syrup into the flour with your finger tips, or pulse on and off in a food processer to combine in to a crumbly texture, that will easily press together into a dough. Add a splash of water if needed to bring it together.

4.     Flour a clean work surface, and gently kneed the dough, just to bring it together.

5.     Roll out to a 3mm thickness and cut out shapes using Easter cutters, or simply into squares with a knife.

6.     Place on lined baking trays and bake for about 10 - 15 minutes until golden.

7.     Carefully transfer cooked biscuits onto wire cooling rack, and allow biscuits to cool completely before decorating.

1.     The plain biscuits are perfect for babies 9mths+

2.     For older babies and children decorate biscuits with a selection of dried fruit, flaked nuts and seeds, such as poppy seeds, sunflower and pumpkins seeds, dried flaked coconut, toasted flaked almonds, raisins, goji berries, etc. Older children will love getting creative and decorating the biscuits with you.

3.     Stick decorations to biscuits with a little coconut oil, or honey (honey suitable for 12mths+)

A fun, delicious treat for all the family this Easter.
